Snowbird Mountain Bout
Little Cottonwood Canyon, July 15, 2006

As usual, the Snowbird race was hot, tricky, and brutal. The UMB team made a great effort, winning the team competition by a wide margin. On this beautiful sunny day, 19 UMB riders made the legendary grunt up rocky steep Dick Bass Highway followed by the spooky dangerous tram-road descent, then on to that mile of fun singletrack in between. 17 riders won team points.

on the Bird Trail, taking a 4th-place finish
in Beginner Men 19-29.

Mike Engberson sprints the meadow
to take 7th place in Sport Men 30-39.

Jolene Nosack makes a great ride on this
tough trail, taking 1st in Women 35-plus.

John VanWagoner rides to a strong
2nd place finish in Beginner Men 40-plus.
Todd Neumarker shows up with a
new bike and struts his stuff
with a 3rd in Sport Men 30-39.

Carlee Hunsaker prepares to hop back
on the bike after running it up a slippery
technical section. Carlee was 3rd in Girls
and 11th overall in 10-12.

Dave Larsen goes airborne over the creek
on his way to 3rd place in Sport Men 16-18.

Tyler Margetts makes another great ride
as he grabs a 1st place in Beginner Men 19-29.

Danny VanWagoner opens a big lead
before a DNF with a shredded tire.

New to the UMB team this week, Stephen
Brown captures 5th in Sport Men 19-29.

Stephen Bergen starts his first lap, catching
2nd place in Beginner Men 30-39.

Scott Hunsaker joins the team with this
race, taking 5th in Beginner Men 40-plus.

victory to continue his domination of
the 10-12 category.
