Taming the Tetons
Jackson Hole, July 22, 2006

On a hot sunny morning in Teton Village, UtahMountainBiking.com dominated the team competition with a solid win. The 6-mile loop has 1100 feet of climbing and is almost all singletrack. The rocks and roots make this one of the most difficult -- but most fun -- races on the Intermountain Cup circuit.

Chad Hunter fights through the woods and makes the podium with 3rd place in Singlespeed.	Carlee Hunsaker handles the technical track as first-place girl, taking 3rd overall in 10-12.	Dominic Bria heads down the final twisting section toward the finish, taking 3rd in Beginner Men 40-plus.


Dave Larsen fights through to another 1st-place finish in Sport Men 16-18.	Eric Taylor rides to yet another 1st place in Beginner Men 16-18.	Kris Nosack cranks out a 2nd-place finish in Beginner Men 40-plus.


Jolene Nosack handles the rocks and roots to again take 1st in Women 35-plus.	Julie Hunter is pursued by Suzi. Julie took 2nd in Women 35-plus.	Here's Suzi Bria, riding to 3rd place in Women 35-plus.


Kellie Williams rocks along the trail on her way to a 2nd-place finish in Sport 16-18.	Matt Flygare heads uphill on the singletrack, riding to 5th place in Sport Men 30-39.	Scott Hunsaker leads Kris through the trees. Scott grabbed a ribbon with 4th place in Beginner Men 40-plus.

division, so he's moved up to Sport.

Thanks to Diane Argyle and Kris Nosack for the race photography. Mike Engberson handled logistics of campground reservations and team cookout. Richard Williams (Kellie's dad) was one of our "team chefs" all three nights, and acted as general team support. And thanks, racers and families, for your sacrifices in coming to Jackson Hole. This race moved us into first place in the 2006 Intermountain Cup team competition. As this season began for our little team, who would have thought we'd be in contention for the title?


The after-race BBQ featured tons of good stuff. Over 40 UMB racers and family members were at this mid-season feed.	Mike cooks the burgers and dogs. Bruce did the dutch-oven taters'n'onions. Richard made the dutch-oven cobbler.	Mike's wife Lisa serves up the watermelon. And after the sun went down, s'mores.
