La Sal Loop Road Closure/Delay Information

2017 Loop Road Construction Road Closures and Delays

Below is a detailed time line for roadway closures for the project duration. Map of defining the road closures for the project is attached.

Sept. 1, 2016 to May 26, 2017, the road will be closed from 325+00 (Castle Valley Overlook) to 415+00 (Miners Basin Road) to facilitate MSE wall work. This section of road will not be open for public travel -- including bicycles -- at any time from September 1, 2016 to May 26, 2017. (Note: The dates of road closure were updated 3/31/17 based on an email from the road engineer.  - UMB -)

During the week expect up to 30 minute delays if using the northern portion of the La Sal Loop Road between the Gateway Road and Miners Basin Road.

May 26, 2017 to project completion, the road may be closed from stations 210+00 (Sand Flats Road) to 660+29.14 (Gateway Road) Monday (6 a.m.) through Friday (6 p.m.). The roadway is Open to public traffic every weekend (6 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday) and holidays during this time period. Use Sand Flat Road as a detour for public traffic.  The Sand Flat Road will be used while La Sal Mountain Loop Road is closed.

From May 26, 2017 – Nov. 1, 2017, Delays of up to 30 minutes possible during the week between stations 11+50 (Mill Creek Bridge/Oowah Lake Road) to 210+00 (Sand Flats Road)

Access to Warner Lake and Oowah Lake Campgrounds from the south end of the Loop Road will be possible during the week with delays up to 30 minutes and with no restrictions on weekends. (Friday 6 PM to Monday 6 AM)

Closures apply to all access including bicycles. The La Sal Loop road crossing of the Whole Enchilada Trail at will remain open to bikes at all times.
