2009 Utah Cyclocross Racing Series

Although there was a definite chill in the air for the start of the utah cyclocross season, the UMB CROSS TEAM, our riders came out on fire. UtahMountainBiking.com had its' best turn out for a cyclocross race ever with nine racers rocking the short track.

Category Men C:


Mike Horne rushes ahead to 17th place in the huge category.	Jeff Kingsford rolls ahead on the grassy section to take 20th place.


	Center: In his first race ever for UtahMountainBiking.com Steven Brumbaugh chases after the rider in front of him to take 25th place.

Masters 55+: UMB Cross Team had no Masters 55+ riders!

Masters 45+ A/B:

Left: Jay Griffin, in his first cross race,
sets up to jump the log and lands in
4th place.

Right: Several riders showed up for the start of the cross season.

Masters 35+ B:

Left: Darren Harris does the bunny hop
on his cross bike to take 17th place
in this super competitive category.

Masters 35+ C:


Left: Cyclocross is great from a spectators point of view. Supporters can see their racer(s) go by several times and see them on most of the course.	Right: Riding smart saves time and places in a race. Jason Sparks rides around the moved log and avoids the pile-up to take 3rd place.

Women A: UMB Cross Team had no Women A riders!

Women B: UMB Cross Team had no Women B riders!

Women C:
	Left: On her modified cross bike, Amber Hatfield powers up the hill passing her competitors to take 4th place.

Juniors: UMB Cross Team had no Junior riders!

Men B:


Also riding a modified cross bike, Justin Griffin jumps the ditch that others rode around to take 11th place.	Stephen Brown gets the inside track on his competitor to take 19th place.

Singlespeed: UMB Cross Team had no Singlespeed riders!

Men A: UMB Cross Team had no Men A riders!

Masters 35+ A: UMB Cross Team had no Masters 35+ A riders!

The UMB Cross Team did a great job at their first team race. As many first time racers will attest, "cross is a blast!"
